Field-Based Technology

New field-based technology is being developed to digitize and screen for biomass yield traits. The “robot” is a converted John Deere garden tractor with a GPS-enabled auto-steer function and sensors. Before it can function on its own, researchers “train” the robot’s auto-steer function to follow the route it should take through the field.
