Relationship Between the DOE Systems Biology Knowledgebase and the Larger Scientific Community

Community involvement is critical for the success of the DOE Systems Biology Knowledgebase (Kbase). Implementing Kbase will require the expertise and skills from many different groups within the scientific community. Broadly, these groups include plant and microbial researchers who design experiments and generate data; computational biologists and bioinformaticians who will develop the analysis methods and simulations that help interpret the data; and computer scientists, database developers, and software engineers who will develop the Kbase infrastructure. These groups will provide insights and inferred knowledge to each other through Kbase and then share that knowledge with the broader scientific community.
